Job Description:
Substance use disorder counselor providing individual, group and family counseling in the outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care.

Responsibilities:
Assessment and diagnosis of substance use disorders and ability to recognize co- occurring mental health disorders. Work with clients to develop time limited, measurable and attainable treatment plans. Individual, group and family counseling, with a focus on group counseling in the IOP setting. Work cooperatively with other community services and providers. Timely clinical record keeping including the maintenance of paper and computerized documentation required for state and federal contracts and quality client care. Prepare comprehensive clinical evaluations and reports for the courts and other parts of the criminal justice system. Supervise UA’s and prepare related documentation for federal and state mandated clients. Some after hours on-call required. Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications and Requirements:
LADC or a minimum of a bachelors degree and two years experience delivering substance use disorder counseling. A masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other human services discipline may be substituted for one year of experience. Good writing skills and attention to detail. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to collaborate with other professionals within the agency and in the surrounding community in the coordination of services provided to the patient and his/her family. Must be able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Must have the knowledge, skills and experience to identify community resources necessary to support the recovery process of agency clients.

Supervision for LADC licensure provided for those seeking initial licensure and for ongoing practice. Support for continuing education to meet the requirements of initial licensure and license renewal and some tuition reimbursement available.
